How does the cooling system work?
Whilst driving, the fuel energy is converted into heat. This heat is transferred to the coolant which is then circulated through the engine by the water pump.
How can you tell if you need a new cooling system?
The signs to look out for when you need a new cooling system are visible coolant leaks, low coolant level, overheating engine, high-temperature gauge reading or steam coming up from under the bonnet.
Is coolant and antifreeze the same thing?
They are similar but not the same. Coolant is a ready-to use solution made up from antifreeze and water combined together, whereas antifreeze is concentrated glycol-based liquid that needs to be diluted by water to be used as coolant.
How much does it cost to fix a cooling system?
Depending on what part you need replacing in your cooling system or if you need the whole system replacing, it can vary in cost. Speak to a member of our team today to find out more.
How often should I add coolant?
You tend to only need to add coolant once every three years or every 30,000 miles. If you drive in hot weather or make frequently long journeys, you may need to fill up more regularly.
