How do glow plugs work?
Glow plugs work in a similar way to spark plugs except they heat air and fuel to start diesel engines rather than sparking the ignition in petrol engines. They work like mini heaters in your car’s bonnet and can only be found in diesel engines. For every cylinder in the engine, there is a glow plug.

It is recommended to change glow plugs around 100,000 miles although they do tend to have a long lifespan and don’t need replacing too often.
